I am surprised and quite pleased at the high level of work that my daughter is doing this year in 5th grade. She is learning concepts that weren't introduced to me until I was in high school. It is quite amazing to see her excell in math. The reason that I do not give this a five-star rating is its lack of teaching/explanation. I do not think that the lessons adequately explain the concepts in each and every lesson, from both a teaching and learning standpoint. If I hadn't done as well as I had done in my math classes, I may have had difficulty teaching this to my daughter. I really believe that the writers need to have someone who is not gifted in math to evaluate the lessons so that they can be adjusted for the home user. Please consider this. We have used Rightstart Math from kindergarten until now in fifth-grade. I believe, for the first time in six years, that the lessons are quite sparse in teaching and explanation. Regardless, we plan on finishing up with Rightstart Math. I don't think any other program comes close to Rightstart. It is absolutely amazing what children can learn if it is introduced correctly. I have a very active learner who enjoys math and is very good at it. The Geometric Approach has been a great review of many of the math concepts he has learned through 6th grade with another curriculum. He was burned out on doing page after page of math problems and so we chose Right Start to try something new and fun. We are almost half way though and will start on Videotext Algebra in February(his 7th grade year) while finishing up Geometric Approach. I recommend it for a kid who likes active learning. A++
