This RightStart Tutoring Number Sense manual is about the application and use of number sense - the understanding of numbers and the quantities they represent. Number sense provides order to math and provides a strong foundation needed for future math learning. The RightStart Tutoring Number Sense teaches basic addition and subtraction as well as four-digit addition and subtraction.

This tutoring manual is intended for those who have a weak, incomplete, or non-existent understanding of number sense. It does not matter if the student is 9 years old or 90 years old; these lessons will approach number sense with a new perspective that follows the RightStart Mathematics approach and philosophy.

Just what you need to teach number sense, addition, and subtraction to four-digits. Lessons are practiced with card games.

    Highly Recommend

I decided to transition my oldest to RightStart not even halfway through the grade 2 of our previous math curriculum, which was just not working out for either of us. We're using the Number Sense book to transition into Level D, and so far we're both loving it. NEVER have I heard my daughter say that math is her favorite subject, and she keeps commenting on how much she loves the way this program teaches math. I'm having a lot of fun with it too as her instructor! Rather than spending hours (and $$) tracking down supplemental materials, RightStart has everything you need to actually *teach and apply* concepts, strategies, and patterns step by step, then gives you fun ways to practice rather than assigning worksheets and drills. I'm picking up some new mental math tricks myself along the way! For me this is definitely one of those "Why couldn't I have had this when I was in school???" type of programs. Now my 9 yo and I, and my 7 yo and my 5 yo, also beginning with RightStart, all look forward to and enjoy math. Love this program and methodology, and I finally feel confident that I'll be giving my kids a solid grounding in mathematics and thinking skills. Highly recommend!!

So far this has been a good help for my third grade boy who has had a difficult time with numbers.
