T-Square

Used as a drawing tool.
There are no distracting measurement marks on this T-square, just like a professional T-square.

Great T-Square
Thank you for removing the markings. The students now focus more on using the T-Square as a tool for drawing lines and supporting triangles. Appreciate that it is sturdier than the previous version.

Miss the markings
I am sure there are some who didn’t like the measurement markings on the t-square, but I was one who did. Maybe I missed the option to order one with or without measurements, but I received a clear, plain t-square. While I am happy with the product for the purposes of teaching the math curriculum, it is now an extra step to measure a line and adjust it with an eraser or adding to it than being able to read the measurements as you’re drawing when I give my kids extra practice problems. It would be nice to have the option, or make them with minimal (maybe inch and half-inch?) markings so as to meet-in-the-middle of the two sides of the preference spectrum.

COMPANY RESPONSE
Yes, the older T-squares were fragile. They are now made in the USA (actually in North Dakota) and are far more durable. Also, there are no measurement marks on the new T-square, just like a professional T-square. If a measurement is needed, the ruler is the tool to use. Moving the T-square away from its purpose, to draw horizontal lines and to support the triangles for angled lines, is inefficient. Additionally, the design of the T-square with the T-part thicker than the I-part makes it hard to use as an effective ruler.

No Longer a Ruler
I have ordered multiple T-squares over the last 8 yrs. First, they have all been fragile and break. Second, this t-square has no ruler marks. The reason given to me from RightStart for it no longer being a ruler is because kids didn't know how to use them. By this logic, I wouldn't give my math lessons or reading lessons because some kids got confused by them. If you never give a kid a fork he will always use his fingures to eat. He might not know how to use it at first but that is no reason not to give it too him. I wish there was a metal option that had ruler marks.

Wonderful but too fragile
I second the other review. I love this item. Learning how to use it has been great for my kids. However, this is the third time I have purchased it. I wish there were a metal option as well.

Handy Fragile
This works well, I have used it a few times myself outside of math, but is easily breakable. I currently have a student in level G and one in level E --we started in level A and I have had to buy this about 3 or 4 times. I wish there was a metal option.
