Cotter Abacus CVI is Made in the USA!* This 9-3/4" x 7-1/2" (24.75 cm x 19.25 cm) plastic abacus is grouped in 5s and 10s to encourage quantity recognition and visualization. On one side the child performs basic operations and learns strategies for mastering the facts. On the reverse side, trading is emphasized.

Children with CVI have a strong need for color to 'anchor' their vision to a target. This abacus is similar to the Cotter Abacus Standard; frame is made of durable plastic and wooden  beads are grouped with 5 red  and 5 yellow beads to support the child with Cortical Visual Impairment.

    AL Abacus CVI

Thank you for designing this abacus for students who have Cortical Visual Impairment. Red and yellow are 'anchor' colors for our kids, and using this abacus helps them to use their vision to develop math skills. I have been using the AL Abacus first for my own children, (now all college graduates!) and recently for my student with CVI. The addition of the abacus to the math program for my student was game-changing, and she improved a full grade level in her math after using it. Our school ordered abacuses for each of the students, including the specialized models for the visually impaired. We are excited to begin this new school year using the abacus to strengthen their math skills. Thank you for all your help and support. Wonderful company!
